What is an aromatherapy diffuser?
A diffuser disperses essential oils into the air as a fine mist or dry vapour. The four common types are ultrasonic (water + oil), nebulising (pure oil), evaporative (fan + pad), and heat-based. Ultrasonic diffusers are the most popular for Indian homes — quiet, gentle, and easy to clean.
Diffuser vs. scented candle
A diffuser gives you a continuous, subtle scent throw with no flame — good for bedrooms, kids' rooms, and long work sessions. A soy wax candle gives warmer, richer notes and the ritual of a flame, ideal for evenings and small spaces. Many people keep both and choose by mood.
Best essential oil blends to start with
- Calm: lavender + sandalwood + a touch of bergamot.
- Focus: peppermint + rosemary + lemon.
- Sleep: lavender + chamomile + vetiver.
- Fresh & clean: eucalyptus + tea tree + lime.
- Festive: sandalwood + rose + clove for Diwali evenings.
How to use a diffuser safely
Fill with clean water to the marked line, add 4–6 drops of essential oil per 100 ml, and run for 30–60 minutes at a time in a ventilated room. Empty and wipe the reservoir between different blends so scents don't muddle. Keep diffusers out of reach of pets — several essential oils, including tea tree and eucalyptus, are unsafe for cats and dogs.
Getting the same effect from a candle
A well-made soy wax candle carries essential-oil-forward fragrance without a diffuser. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, let the first burn reach the edge of the vessel, and keep sessions to three or four hours. Our scented candles are hand-poured in small batches in India with clean fragrance blends.
Common questions
Are diffusers safe every day? Yes, in short sessions with good ventilation. Take breaks so your nose doesn't adapt and stop noticing the scent.
Do candles count as aromatherapy? When they're made with real essential oils or high-quality fragrance blends and a clean wax like soy, yes — the warm melt pool releases the notes similarly to a diffuser.
